I grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and his shop was on St. Marks between Ave. A and 1st Ave. I went into his shop one day with some friends and I was just looking at his work and I saw this quote: “Believe in yourself and stop trying to convince others.” I realized that most of my life I have been a people pleaser and always trying to get the approval from others. And I looked at my friend and said “We’re going to Vinny’s. I’m getting this right now.” And I did.
